I'm just musing here but does that mean there is a link between hair going grey as we age and the fact that people's skin tone seems to lighten with age?
Just musing (again) I've wondered whether there is a link between me having premature grey & the fact that I find it much harder to tan as I did as a kid? There are of course other factors to consider in this case, we use higher and broader spectrum spf's but I also considered that processes slow as we get older so maybe that goes for melanin production?

We probably lose melanocytes from the skin but it is harder to notice that in white skin, although after a tan it is easier to see the small lighter areas.
