Hello Everyone. I have both Seb Derm and Rosacea. I recently began using Rosacea Control Serum with EGF and the oil Cleanser. I think the oil Cleanser has helped a lot, meaning it's lessened the redness. Why do I think it's the Cleanser and not the Rosacea Control Serum? Because I used the Cleanser (only) for a couple of days when my skin was extra red, then my skin calmed down a lot (meaning less red). I returned to adding-on the Rosacea Control Serum thereafter, which leaves my skin more red for a couple of hours before it calms down again. (The redness never goes away completely). I must apply cream right after applying the Rosacea Control Serum, because if I don't my skin is extremely scaly, dry, tight, and itchy.
I don't know if it's my imagination, but it seems like my Seb Derm has gotten much worse since I began using the serum, but my Rosacea is getting a little better (a little less red). When I washed my face, the outer layer of facial skin lightly rubbed away over my ENTIRE face! I haven't had Seb Derm peel this bad in years! Has anyone else with both Seb Derm and Rosacea experienced this while on the Rosacea Control Serum? I hesitate to stop using it because my Rosacea is a little better, so that's why I'd like to ask more experienced SAS users for your input.
Lastly, I love the oily Cleanser through SAS, but I must say it seems odd to use, because my skin soaks it up and it doesn't lather. I feel like I use a lot of it since it soaks in quickly. I don't use water with it because that simply dries out my skin and makes it more red. I simply rinse it off quickly in the shower. Does anyone else with Seb Derm and Rosacea use the oil Cleanser? How does it work for you? Did you find anything else that removes all (or most) of your dead skin without making your face more red? The instructions indicate to use a cottonball to remove makeup and debris, which I tried once, BUT rubbing my skin with anything makes the redness worse. It tends to "heat-up" my face. Plus, I could rub my facial skin for an hour and STILL have dead skin come off. I've never had luck using "peels" or "masks" in the past, as they have always made my Rosacea worse.
Thank you for your advice and input! Kat |

Reply with quote | #3 | Hi, I've posted before and have some more info for you. I use the rosacea serum in the am and sometimes get a burning feeling. When I do, I wash it off. Most of the time, however, it is fine. I use the MNS serum in the am followed with a cream that I have mixed from different actives targeted towards moisture and inflamm. I used the oily cleanser pm for a few weeks and broke out with acne cysts or rosacea cysts, (my derm isn't sure which), or if it was the oil that did it, but it was the only different thing that I did at the time. She also thought that it could have been a hormone surge since I am going through menopause. I found, however, that the oil cleanser really helped with the dryness and flaking and now that I am all cleared up, I am going to try it again because I liked it so much. I also use a liquorice/ha/distilled water mix pm which I think helps with the moisture and inflamm. I am constantly mixing up different batches of moisturizing cream for the flaking and rosacea and will let you know what is working. Best of luck, hope that this helps. Sue |

Reply with quote | #4 | I have seb derm and I used to have steroid-induced rosacea (although it is gone now) and I experienced some of the same problems you did when using the rosacea serum and mixing up my first batch of face cream. The rosacea got better but the seb derm got worse. I eventually isolated the cause by going off everything and then introducing actives one by one. For me it was the Sea Kelp Bioferment which was causing the problem.

Reply with quote | #5 | The one thing that I have found that genuinely helps with my seb derm is coconut oil. I purchase extra virgin oil from the health food store and can honestly say that since I started using it in December, my seb derm is almost gone. However, when I stop using it and attempt to try something else it invariably comes back.

Reply with quote | #6 | Please don't try to generalize to other people. Your "no sea kelp" "yes coconut oil" may be true for you but it is so unlikely to be useful to other people because of the composition of sea kelp and coconut oil (and other actives you say are bad for you) that I think it is a very bad idea for people to follow your advice.
