Reply with quote | #1 | I do not know what is the trigger for my skin. I am led to believe a lot of things but sugar I notice a reasonable difference. I use Skin Actives Face Wash, I also ordered the Anti-Inflammatory Cream but that made it much worse. The face wash is great, I also use Aveda Exfoliant and Finacea. I just stopped taking birth control, I believe it made it worse. I was doing great but had a bit of sugar and back to square one...my face is blowing up now. I have one pimple but many "stains" on my right side. The Finacea helps with that but there has to be something better. Something that controls this. It makes me very depressed and I am doing everything these days. Green shakes every morning, wheat grass shots a couple times a week...no fried foods. clean pillow case every night. There must be more I can do. Help me! |

Reply with quote | #2 | Acne can be depressing, but a good doctor can help. Maybe you could see a good endocrinologist?
Sugar is not known to affect acne, and green shakes will not help. Some birth control pills are known to help a lot, so maybe you could ask your doctor which ones are the best for you. Your endocrinologist may have to do some tests to see whether you have any particular hormonal problem.
While you wait to see the doctor, keep using the salicylic wash. A physical exfoliant will not help if your skin is inflamed. Try our anti-inflammatory cream, acne cream and try to smile.
When the acne calms down a bit, try our let's make collagen serum, it will help with the old scars.
We all survived acne, and you will survive it too. It is a normal condition. Unpleasant but normal and can be ameliorated.

Reply with quote | #3 | Hi, I just went through something very similar - which ended up in depression & other things which come with it. My face is not completely clear but there is a LOT of improvement since i started the following routine. I go out without any concealer now and just wear some sheer pressed powder. Check out my routine: AM 1) Wash face with Salcylic Wash (I wet my face and apply some - little less than dime amount and let it sit for about 5 minutes - almost like a mask). Then i go in the shower i add a little water and rub for a couple of seconds and wash it off. 2) Apply Ascorbic Acid (I take a pinch of crystals - a little pinch and apply it to the almost wet face right after shower - before that though for about 1 week i used it like a toner - made of the Ascorbic Acid and Distilled water. Then when i knew that i could go stronger - i applied the Ascorbic Acid directly) 3) Apply TZone Serum ( i apply it all over the face not just TZone) 4) ELS Serum - 1 drop everywhere skin feels tight. You should skip this step unless ur skin feels dry. 5) Sunscreen - i add Alpha Lipolic Acid to mine but u don't need to do that - it's for other general benefits. PM 1) No-Nonsense Cleanser or Salicylic Wash - Depending on what i feel like an how much makeup i am wearing on a given day. 2) Let's make collagen - This will help long term with skin condition so if you want to skip this for now - you can - i started it only once my acne was under control - about a month after. 3) TZone Serum - Everywhere not just the TZone. 4) Acne Control Cream. 5) ELS Serum - only sometimes but i do slap it over if i feel even a tad dry. (I feel that this has helped control my acne so i recommend it for night especially) 6) Zit Zapper - I take a small amount like half the size of a dime, add just a pinch of Willow Bark Extract and White Liquorice Extract mix with my finger for a couple of seconds and apply it to all of the zits you can see or just feel under the skin.)
FINALLY - I use the Pumpkin Enzyme Peel twice a week and the Alpha Beta Exfoliation towels once a week.
If you have questions on my routine, let me know.
Good Luck and be well!

Also, the anti-inflammatory did not work for me either. I had a reaction to it as well. It's just try and error and like Skin Actives team says start slow. |

Reply with quote | #5 | Remember that there is such a thing as a coincidence. You may have eaten some sugar or used anti-inflammatory cream, but acne is a very complicated process and you can't blame a particular event or product.
For intractable acne, the first thing I suggest is our acne control products. If that does not work, see an internist. A grass smoothie, made of mostly cellulose and chlorophyll, will make your intestinal bacteria very happy but will have no effect on your acne. |

Reply with quote | #7 | dearsarah: I didn't note anywhere in your post where you had tried the acne kit offered here. It has truly been the only thing that cleared up both my kids' faces (18 and 21). It does take some time but it really worked for them. |

Reply with quote | #8 | I am now using AppleCider Vinegar, it was working wonders and then I had some cookies, like clockwork-my face is terrible and it just wont stop. I only have 4 or so pimples but the red marks and the redness really make me feel terrible. I am eating well, no sugars. I think a lot of it has to do with my air, I once lived somewhere that all I did was use dove soap and i was totally clear. Also, its stress. I need to go buy some bubbles, and realize my skin could be worse and I need to make it better. Any tips would help, foods that might make you flare up. Does Apple Vinegar actually work? I am still using the face wash from here, I put some finacea on today and I took the day off to enjoy the beauty. I wish I could get out of my head. Opinions, please! |

Reply with quote | #9 | I would like to add that in my twenties, while working part-time in a department store, I indulged in trying every cosmetic and skin care line they sold. I used numerous skin care products and had an involved and laborious routine. My skin never looked worse, and I developed the acne I never had has a teen. I finally went to a dermatologist, was given Retin-A (I only needed it briefly) and a very simple skin care routine. Within a few weeks my skin was looking quite good.
I realize there maybe many reasons for your breakouts, however, in my experience using too many products and an overly laborious skin care regime is not only a waste of time and money but could produce the antithesis of your desired outcome. Eating a nutrient dense diet is a good idea on many levels but sometimes things are a bit more complicated and you may require the help of a professional.
On another thread, Hannah advised keeping the skin care regimen simple and to approximately five products. I completely concur, I've been doing this for over twenty years and most people think I am in my mid-thirties, rather than my true 47.
I'd stick with one reasonable regime targeted to your problem (like the acne kit holly 123 mentions), be patient, and keep hands away from face. If you do not see improvement then it may be best to seek professional help. Good luck! |

Reply with quote | #10 | There is no scientific evidence that the air or the food you eat affects acne. There is such a thing as a coincidence.
Apple vinegar? How long do you think your skin can take the acidity without complaining?
Try our products, forget about looking at everything you eat and do and try to enjoy life.
Try to get help from friends, a mental heath professional and/or whoever can help, but don't look in the internet for magical solutions. And don't look at the mirror all the time, it does not help.
