Hi Hannah,

I love the antioxidant booster as a way to get more antioxidants into my skincare routine. I’m curious about the difference between the booster and your vitamin e oil. Obviously the vitamin e oil doesn’t include the range of antioxidants. But is the form of vitamin e different between them? The ingredients of the booster include tocotrienols & tocopherols, while the vitamin e oil is d-alpha-tocopherol. What is the difference and is there any advantage to using both?

I would say there is no advantage to using both, but everybody should use a product containing oil soluble antioxidant/s daily, because water soluble antioxidants like ascorbic acid don't replace oil soluble antioxidants. I use ELS, a lot.

Lipids (fats) are very important in cell membranes, and ROS* are very good at destroying those lipids. alpha-D-tocopherol and other vitamin E chemicals (like tocotrienols) interrupt the chain reactions initiated by ROS* that are so good at destroying lipids.

Thanks so much for the response.

If I understand correctly:

Tocopherols & tocotrienols are components of vitamin e and d-alpha-tocopherol is a specific tocopherol. And oil soluble antioxidants in general, including the various components of vitamin e, are good at dealing with ROS*.

Both the antioxidant and collagen serums are chock full of water-soluble antioxidants. (I use 1 in the am and the other in the pm). By using a facial oil blend at night w antioxidant booster and coq10 actives added in, I’m giving my skin the other types of antioxidants that will support my skin.

I also use the rosehip seed oil most mornings which according to the product page also provides tocopherols and carotenoids.

If I have this straight, I feel like I’m providing my skin w a good level of antioxidant protection. Thanks for providing such good products and actives.
