I have been a user (lover) of both collagen serum as well as UV repair for many years now.  I use them on alternate days (and nights).  It recently occurred to me that this might not be the best solution for my greatest skin concerns:  most noticeably sagging in the cheek area and crepiness around my eyes.  I am about ready to run out of each and wondered if it would be better to keep alternating as I am doing, or rather to buy one product only and apply it daily?

Also, I tend to take quick showers often in the summer--how long would a product need to stay on the skin between washing to be effective?

Thank you!

Hello HS,

For sagging skin I think Collagen Serum is essential. I use Collagen Serum morning and night every day, and that is the recommended usage to get the greatest results. If you applying it up to the area up to your ocular bone, it should help with that area as well. I am not sure from your description (alternate days and nights) how often you are using Collagen Serum, but you may do better to increase to twice daily. For the thinning skin around the eyes, I think Bright I cream would help. It has EGF which helps to thicken the skin. It also has caffeine for puffiness and several other actives that are essential for the delicate skin around the eyes.

Below you will find the breakdown of the actives in UV Repair Cream, it is wonderful for skin that has UV damage. If you feel that is why your skin looks aged, keep using it.

If you wanted to try something new and see if you get better results, you can try our Anti Aging Cream and/or our Vitamin A Cream. We sell sample sizes of both creams so you can try without committing to an entire jar.

I do feel like the damage is due to sun over-exposure.

Would layering the collagen serum under the UV Repair cream be optimal?

As for use twice-daily, do I need to wash my face with a cleanser before using?  I prefer to cleanser only in the evenings and use water only in the morning--it works very well for my complexion, and assumed the serum formulation would require an oil-free face on which to work so I hadn't bothered using it in the morning...

Yes, you can layer the collagen serum under the UV Repair and use twice daily.

You don't need to use a cleanser before you apply them, but the actives do best if you apply after a hot soak in the bath, hot shower or take a nice warm washcloth and hold over the face for a minute.

Remember not to clean too much. The cleanser should clean superficial dirt accumulated during the day in a city, but not take away the precious lipids of your skin. We talk so much about applying ceramides, but the most important ceramides are made by the skin as the epidermis is formed.

Ah!  Thank you Dr. Hannah for your reply--that explains why I find using a cleanser in the evening and water only in the morning works so well for me [smile]

Do you think that the collagen cream might be a better choice for penetration if I haven't washed with a cleanser?

Also JRoth recommended your vitamin A cream--would that be compatible with the EGF in the collagen cream or serum (in regards to layering)?

Hello,

The choice of collagen cream versus serum is completely up to you. Both bases contain the same active ingredients, it is just a matter of whether your skin prefers creams or serums really.

Also, the Vitamin A Cream will be fine to layer with one of the collagen products.

Thanks
Kathryn

I like creams and serums both equally, but I thought the cream might absorb better into my morning skin when I use water only and don't clean with cleanser

Dr. Hannah, Kathryn, and Jess; thank you so much for this thread, and to be honest with you, I actually layer the Collagen Serum under the Firming Collagen Cream; actually, I apply the serum and another SA's serum, and then the Firming Collagen Cream.  It works well for me.

Sky, I put either the Collagen Serum or Cream on twice a day and the formula depends on my mood. I can't live without it, it makes my skin awesome [smile]
