I have received a sample of the lip serum with my last order.  Now - how often do I apply it?  Is it okay to layer liquid crystal over the top of the serum?

You can use it as a part of your regular skincare routine. You can layer liquid crystal (or other lip balm/gloss) over the top.

OK, so I order the lip serum and get to apply it three times before it goes missing.
The culprits? 3 four-month old Kittens and their 4 year old Siamese accomplice. Sine we haven't been in this house for very long I still haven't figured out where Romeo (the flame point Siamese) hides treasures so I just ordered more - which I will promptly place in my skin care cabinet!
The DH and I are pretty sure how this caper went down since we have seen similar escapades in the past: The kittens are light enough and small enough to jump onto the kitchen counter (where the serum sat as I debated "purse or cabinet") and don't understand they aren't supposed to be there. Romeo knows this is an off-limits place and he is far too large (17 pounds) to make the leap. So, the kitties knock objects off and Romeo takes them to the general play area where they romp until it is time to hide the new treasure.
Dammit.

You will find the lip serum... the next time you move.  That's when I uncover the hiding places.  Also, they totally know they aren't supposed to be up there - they just don't give a hoot (especially with the ringleader down below egging them on).

I'm hoping someone can help me out.  I thought I read somewhere on here that, if you shake something with actives too hard, it can de-activate the actives (or something like that)  Can anyone verify if this is the case?  And how do you know if they've been de-activated?

Delicate proteins like EGF and SOD can be 'broken down' if shaken to vigorously. If you use serums with these ingredients, simply turn upside down and right side up a few times to mix them. With creams, incorporate these actives last and fold them in gently.

I don't remember shaking it too vigorously but it seems a little different and that's why I was wondering.  I also received a new KGF brow & lash thingy and it is different from my old one.  In my old one, it stayed pretty well all mixed together but this new one, you can see the actives on the bottom.  How can the actives de-activate?  And does that mean that the item (like the lip serum) won't be effective anymore?

Just mix it gently to reincorporate the actives. It should be fine.
