Does anybody has a good dandruff control recipe to share?

I have decent hair but my scalp is another story.  I almost always had itchy scalp, dandruff.  Some days are better than others.  I've used many different OTC shampoos but none of them really helped.

It would be great if some one has a recipe already.

Thanks.

I know that using plain sea kelp bioferment on my scalp calms itching almost instantly.

It has been discontinued but below are the ingredients. Note that he uses mild surfactants, like decyl glucoside, and oil. The color comes mostly from the blue dye. You could probably do a better job mixing some mild surfactant, sea kelp, rosehip oil and some Coleus.

Water (Aqua), Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Alcohol, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Indian Cress (Tropaeolum Majus) Extract, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Sodium Magnesium Silicate, Neem (Melia Azadirachta) Leaf Extract, Citric Acid, Watercress (Nasturtium Officinale) Extract, Apple (Pyrus Malus) Cider Vinegar, Apricot (Prunus Armeniaca) Kernel Oil, Horseradish (Cochlearia Armoracia) Extract, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Milk Protein, Neem (Melia Azadirachta) Seed Oil, Capryloyl Glycine, Xanthan Gum, Undecylenoyl Glycine, Potassium Hydroxide, Tragacanth (Astragalus Gummifer) Gum, Sucrose Laurate, Lecithin, Propolis Wax (Propolis Cera), Peanut (Arachis Hypogaea) Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Limonene, Citral, Linalool, Geraniol, Chlorophyllin-Copper-Complex (Cl 75810), Ultramarines (CI 77007).

Does this recipe also reduce or eliminate the flakes, too?

I get that the Sea Kelp helps with itching, but does it control flakes as well?

Hi Girlpaint, I think that it all depends on how much you use, if you apply it to "dry" scalp or to damp scalp.  My suggestion to stop the dandruff (scales) is to add a little of the Pumpkin Peel to the Sea Kelp (just a small amount).  A few people here start with that.  I add (to 2 oz Sea Kelp - 6 drops each: Rose Hip Oil, Anti-Ox Booster, stir, stir, stir -- then 1 oz Flax Seed Gel + 1 oz Aloe Gel (If you don't have the Flax Seed Gel, add 2 oz Aloe Gel instead) and then -- this is new for me -- but it is working wonderfully for my son-in-law and two other people with eczema -- 3 drops of the Scalp ELS.  It makes a wonderful Hair Gel, too!  Just squirt some on your fingertips and work it out to the ends -- I leave my hair damp.  I scrunch away.  After about 10 minutes, I apply a Flax Seed Gel, with 20% Sea Kelp and the Golden Jojoba oil / Anti-Ox and Aloe blend.  This gets (semi-rubbed) into the ends of the hair when I am bent over from the waist, and worked back into the scalp.  It makes my hair curl!  I have straight hair, and it waves like a "Venus rising from the Sea" commercial . . . what an imagination -- compare me to a sculpture, hahhhaaaaa.  Anyway, it is good.  My hair grows thicker, looks healthy, and it is easy to fix after a shower --- and just run.  If I want a "higher look" I just use the Sea Kelp after makeup and put it at the roots.  No flaking!  My husband loves it -- and believe me, I am recognized the second someone sees me -- it's the hairdo.

Thanks for the recommendations!  Sounds good.  I'll have to try it out (with my next order, that is).

What is Scalp ELS?

When you say a "just little pumpkin" to sea kelp - how much is a little?

Is it the sea kelp coral or the sea kelp ultramarine?

That is a very old post. At that time, we only had the basic sea kelp. You can use either.
