The sale of peptides by the skin care industry is one of the points I discuss in my book, "The scientific revolution is skin care". There I explain that the great advances in methodology introduced by scientists, like the inexpensive manufacturing of short peptides, are being misused by the industry. Hundreds of peptides of
any composition are available for sale without any reliable studies on their safety (or not) and usefulness (or not). One must remember that peptides may act as messengers, but unless it is very clear what the message is, you may be sending the wrong message. For example, the wrong peptide may be a signal for inflammation. The first and foremost responsibility for a formulator is to understand the complexity of skin biochemistry and to respect the human body. Why do you think that so many people complain about skin sensitivity, allergies and more?
