A question about combining actives - can other actives be added to the KGF serum mix? Such as copper peptides and/or superoxide dismutase, both of which have (apparently) beneficial affects to those with hairloss. Will any of these actives react or cancel each other out?
Thanks,
KJ

KJ, I've been using the KGF with the hairserum for 3 1/2 weeks. Nothing yet but I've been just applying it on the hairline and in and inch or so. As you know the frontal hairline is notoriously hard to get regrowth but I'm hopeful. I've got 1/2 a bottle left. I'll give a report when my bottle is done.

Thanks alot DaveB. I know all too well the problems with regrowing the hairline! My hairline is not too bad but needs filling in at the temples.

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to this site. I love it. I have a question about the KGF Hair Serum. I have fine hair that is not very thick. It is not thinning, it has always been this way. I am wondering if the KGF would be helpful for me, or is it only for people whose hair is less thick than it used to be?
Thanks for all the great information.
Susan

Susan, I believe that KGF is for growing hair, not thickening. But there are some actives that help to thicken. Chrysin is one. Try doing a search for hair thickening. I'm sure we talked about this a lot.

Hi Susan,
Many months ago (when I was an SAS newbie!) I did a mix of Sea Kelp, LOTS of Grape Seed Proanthocyanidins, plus Coconut Endosperm and Rosehip Oil. That's all I had at the time, and I started putting in my hair at night and washing it out in the morning. I also add Sea Kelp to my shampoos (about 1cc per ounce).
For years, I have lost a rather large amount of hair every day in the shower. Let's put it this way - if my hubbie took a shower after me, he would growl like Chewbaca from Star Wars when he saw the hair in the drain... nice, huh?! About a month after I started using the mixes above, I literally stopped losing all but a few hairs each day. And I haven't even tried Chrysin yet!
I don't know if the actives can foster new growth (although, the KGF seems to have done so for some people) but they seem to have stopped my hair loss, which makes me very happy!

Hi, Kevin
I've been using the KGF Serum since the end of May (or thereabouts). I've had great success with it -- for growing new hair, new eyebrows and conditioning skimpy eyelashes. SAS's ingredients for the KGF serum are: distilled water, sea kelp bioferment, L-acetyl carnitine, niacinamide, soy isoflavones, saw palmetto, grape seed proanthocyanidins, chrysin, L-arginine, L-glutamine, glucose, Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF) .
Two weeks ago, I added the following:
Just enough distilled water to dissolve the following (after grinding with mortar & pestle):
1/4 TBSP. soy isoflavones
1/4 TBSP. L-Arginine
1/8 tsp. melatonin
1/4 tsp. coconut endosperm
3 tablets B-complex vitamins
2 tablets folic acid
3 tablets Amino Acid complex
After mixing all this, I added it to my 2/3 bottle KGF Serum, with 1 TBSP. Sea Kelp Bioferment, a splash of Marine Nutrient Serum and 1 TBSP. Aloe Vera Gel (optional as it was for consistency).
Then, I gently added 1 KGF Kit and 1 EGF Kit for "kicks and grins".
I'm really liking it a lot. The color of the serum is really awful, 'though. The front where my hair is really thin is starting to grow little bristles. Can't see 'em, but I can feel 'em!
Beth

How about adding a small amount of caffeine?
Caffeine Counteracts the Growth Inhibitory
Effect of Testosterone in Ex Vivo Human
Hair Follicles from Male Patients with AGA

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a common problem in men of all ages, starting at the age of 20 and affecting about 50% at the age of 50. The underlying cause is an androgen-dependent miniaturization of genetically predetermined hair follicles, modulated by dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and the expression of androgen receptor (AR). Here, we used ex vivo hair follicles from balding areas of men with AGA and cultivated them in vitro to investigate the effects of testosterone and caffeine, the latter being a promising candidate for hair growth stimulation. Hair follicles from 14 biopsies, taken from the vertex areas from male AGA patients, were cultivated for 120–192 h in the presence of normal William’s E medium (control) or William’s E medium containing different concentrations of testosterone and/or caffeine. The outcome parameters were hair shaft elongation and keratinocyte proliferation assessed by Ki-67 staining of longitudinal hair follicle cryosections. Testosterone which is metabolized by intrafollicular 5-
-reductase to DHT lead to significant growth suppression at the concentration of 5g/ml. This suppression was neutralized by caffeine in concentrations of 0.001 and 0.005%. Moreover, caffeine alone lead to a significant stimulation of hair follicle growth compared to normal medium. The results were confirmed by proliferation assessment with Ki-67 staining. Androgen-dependent growth inhibition of ex vivo hair follicles from patients suffering from AGA was present in the human hair organ culture model. This model imitates the clinical situation of AGA in vitro and may serve for future studies to screen new substances against androgen-dependent hair loss. Caffeine counteracted the inhibitory effect of testosterone and was identified as a stimulator of human hair growth in vitro, a fact which may have important impact on clinical anagement of AGA.

I gave up the coffee because of the caffeine, now I know where to put it! Would rinsing ones hair with coffee help then to stop future hair loss?
Oh for the guy with the naturally fine hair. Apparently copper is supposed to widen the size of the folicle and therefore produce thicker hair. If it does do this then I am not sure wether it would affect genetically predetermined fine hair. Have you tried eating more protein, antioxidants etc . . .?
