Hi guys,

I'm new to the whole skin actives thing. I found this because I was looking for a way to make myself a cheaper alternative to the La Mer Gel face cream. I noticed there's a kit here for La Mer Cream but I'm looking for the lighter less greasy feel of the Gel. Any tips for me?

Hello,

The mix of our Sea Kelp Coral and Canvas Base Cream might still be the right choice for you.

In the heavier La Mer Cream, people like the feel of the mineral oil which allows the cream to sit on the skin. Our Canvas Base Cream doesn't contain mineral oil and generally works for most skin types. Using this as a base, you can add as much Sea Kelp Coral as you want. This means you can get the exact feel that is right for you by adding more or less of the Sea Kelp Coral, and since the Canvas Base is already a lighter cream it should give you just what you're looking for.

Let me know if you have any other questions and feel free to tell us how it works out for you.

Thanks,

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn:

I had no idea the Sea Kelp could be mixed into a cream ( I would use the Dream Cream)  to create a La Mer type of solution. I actually buy, adore and have been using La Mer for decades, even before EL took over its production.  I adore, but it is very pricey!

Don't use the Dream cream, it already contains sea kelp and adding more will just "flatten" the mousse-like cream.

If you want petrolatum, get some from the supermarket, it is incredibly inexpensive and it is amazing that such an inexpensive ingredient is what makes La Mer such a favorite (that and the sea kelp).

Look in Wikipedia for the really nice story about petroleum jelly https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petroleum_jelly

I just want that gel texture the la mer gel has. It feels like cool water going on and soaks right in. None of that heavy cream thickness.
