I've been wanting to ask this question, but hate to admit my sins in an open forum - especially to a group of people that are obviously into health and nutrition....  but here goes:

Do the liquid crystals stay on your lips long or does it wipe away easily?  I'm a smoker and I normally can't wear lipgloss as it gets on everything and is off within minutes.  I usually wear the long lasting lipstick which gets very dry and I hate it, but I like darker colors.

It's kind of expensive, although I've heard others use it on their face also, which sounds kind of interesting.

Please don't blast me about the smoking - I KNOW it's not good for me OR my skin.

thanks,

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

You are right about the gloss getting everywhere.  I have always worn lip gloss - since the 70's - and I have learned to deal with it...how to turn your head when the wind blows to keep your hair from getting glued to your lips, etc.

I think it is worth getting the liquid crystals even if you only mix a bedtime treat for your lips.  You need the nutrients since you are smoking.  I know smokers need vitamins C and B but I am no expert.  If you mix the basic lip plumping formula and use it at night, I am sure you would notice an improvement.

As for using the liquid crystals on your face...a little dab'll do ya.  I take a toothpick, dip it in the crystals and stir the toothpick into an ounce of my eye cream.  That's all it takes to gain the illuminating benefits.  Of course, some people like a heavier feel and add more.

Maybe someone else can help with which actives you could add to help with nutrient depletion due to smoking.

Thanks Tengenese,

Do you use a concealer or anything on your eyes after your eye cream?  I have always used a light concealer just to even out the color...

Which brings up another question (wish there was an "off topic" forum).  I am curious as to what types of foundation/powders others here use.  I have used a water base liquid foundation all my life, but have switched to mineral powder foundation, which I'm not too sold on yet because it doesn't have the same coverage.  I'm hoping with all this good stuff I'm using, I won't need the foundation so much.  But, I am very fair skinned with some freckles and need to add color.

Hi Kathy,

re:the foundation, concealer question. I use a mineral foundation that is pressed powder called Pur Minerals in medium. I like it better than Bare Escentuals myself because it doesn't have as much sparkly stuff in it, and I like the coverage I get with it using a flat sponge applicator. I also use the concealer from Lauren Hutton around my eyes and for any 'spots' because it gives coverage, but it is natural and does not cake, or irritate my eyes. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Kathy, I think that the application technique is very important when it comes to mineral cosmetics, I got the hold of Bare Escentuals, I do like it, but am always looking for a new find:-)) Rebecca, do you have the ingredient list for your Pur Minerals powder ? They didnt post it on the site, i am looking for snth without Bismuth in it. Thanx!

Here is where I get mine:  http://www.baresense.com/loose_foundation?b=1 and where one of my friends (does all the big star-types in H'wood) gets what she uses.  Under "Face Color" is a Camoufleur creme concealer which is probably the best I have ever used.  If you want a powder concealer, try the ones on this page / their concealer powder is OUTSTANDING.

I will rarely give anyone a link to any other product, but these guys do a great job on mineral powder and a great price.  This is also where I found out about the liquid crystals.  Just compare that price with the one at SA!

Hi Patty,  Thanks for the link!  I'm definetely going to try a couple things.

I actually put powder on my face with a sponge, I find that I get better coverage.  I think the colors I have are just too light, so if I get a darker color, I can mix it with what I have (and I have a lot of it).

Does the cinnamon leaf oil come in the lip kit or where do you buy it?  I bought the liquid rainbow but thinking of buying the kit next time around.

Thanks,

Dana
