The sea kelp and shampoo worked great but... the sea kelp and conditioner didn't. It balled up! It does this all the time, no matter how little I use. I'm beginning to wonder if the sea kelp works better in conditioner that is oil free. Just not sure how to make it work right for me. It also balled up in my hair serum. It looked like I had little pieces of dandruff! Ewwwwwwwwwwww! I quickly added more stuff and it helped. I guess I'll just keep plugging away!

Thanks.

I use Sea Kelp and Flax Seed Gel (at 50/50 of each, and maybe some water if it flakes or balls up), and it is the best conditioner (leave in) ever.  I added some of the Panthenol (B5) and a drop or two of Anti Ox, and Rose Hip Oil.

I have some great news on the Lab Rat, his hair always looked like it was "split city" on the back of his head / ends.  Now with the B5, it does not.  Nice and shiny and healthy.

No breakouts on my scalp.  Happy "no more irritation" on my scalp.

Oh, Patty! You're making me wish I had the $250 for 1/2 gallon of sea kelp right now! I would love to try the sea kelp/flax seed gel. Guess I'll just have to be patient.

I have found sea kelp to be FANTASTIC for "the frizzies." I have very curly hair that frizzes up at the slightest provocation; however, since I have been mixing just a little dab of sea kelp with my usual mousse, my hair is much easier to control. I've spent my whole life (and have gone through a million hair products) trying to get that to happen! If sea kelp did nothing but that, it would still be a miracle product! But it's just so great for the skin, too, and that makes it even better.

KT,

I tried just for the fun of it, using my Ikea mixer to mix the kelp into my conditioner.  Worked great.  Bit foamy, but the next day it was fine.  Just a suggesting, cuz I know you have some difficulty with balling up...

I know I saw a recipe for a kelp cleanser some where in the forum, but I have searched and couldn't find it.  I think it was from a thread made in mid 05.  I will keep searching......

ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE A RECIPE?????

Esther, sea kelp makes an excellent cleanser all by itself with just the surfactant that comes with it.  Are you looking for something else to add?

Yes I know you can use the sea kelp with the surfactant. I would really appreciate an exact recipe.  How many vials of surfactant do use. One, two, and how much sea kelp per vial.

There was a recipe on here, I remember now!  It was before I purchased the sea kelp.I just wish I could find it. I have use the sea kelp all by itself. It's ok, I would prefer something not too drying.

KT, the vial of surfactant that comes with the sea kelp kit is enough for the corresponding jar of sea kelp.  But some folks like their cleanser more sudsy and some like it less sudsy.  You might want to start by trying this with the small jar or sea kelp and mixing the full vial in the jar.

I like my cleanser to be a little more on the sudsy side so I mix half a jar of sea kelp with the full vial of surfactant.  You can't mess anything up here because both the surfactant and the sea kelp can be used alone so whatever proportion you choose is ok.

My little tip which seems like common sense to me is to apply your regular conditioner as directed, and after you wash it and dry your hair, add sea kelp straight to your hair and leave it in. No need to wash this out, it's light and smooth as a baby's bottom :-)
